Where was the sun?

The Ravage
My relection in the mirror of life......
Jayanti M. Dalal (Not a "social worker" but a "social writer")

THE RAVAGE

THE RAVAGE

The quietly escaping Sun
Whispered in my ears:
‘Run away, still there’s time!’
Not grasping the hint
I climbed on top of
The Qutb Minar.

From there I watched
With a heavy heart and
Deep sorrow
The war waged by
The atomic weapons
Created by man.

All around were corpses
Buried under the heaps
Of skyscrapers.
For days crics
Arose during the
Horrid war
And slowly disappeared
In the realm of
Profound quietude.

Houses of the whole world
Were destroyed
The human race
Was annihilated.

Suddenly the Qutb Minar
Crumbled down.
Floating in the air
I was dragged
Towards the earth.
Merging in the air
I started off a
Tour of the world:
Not a sign was seen
Of the Sear’s Tower
Or the Empire State Building.
The Eiffel Tower lay
Head downwards
And weeping.
The sobs of Shah Jehan
Were heard from the
Scattered bits of Taj Mahal.

I wished : May I
Never be born again
As a humanbeing |
